Robert Indiana Decade: Autoportraits #7, 1980

In his portfolio ‘Decade: Autoportraits, Vinalhaven Suite’, 1980, Robert Indiana combines the aesthetics of American advertisements and commercial logos with his personal language of colors, numbers, shapes, and words. Each print corresponds to a year in his eventful 1970s, invoking many autobiographical associations. These bold, hard-edged images were handled by the printers in the Domberger workshop in Germany and embody the power of signs and language.
